Government Affairs Director, Russia & CIS

About the role

The Government Affairs Director for Russia & CIS will lead AbbVie’s public policy strategy across the region, ensuring that the company’s innovative medicines achieve sustainable patient access while protecting the portfolio from regulatory and political risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy aligned with business and market‑access objectives.
• Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, patient groups and other key stakeholders.
• Identify, assess and mitigate political, regulatory and reimbursement risks that could impact product launches and commercial sustainability.
• Provide strategic advice to local, regional and global leadership on policy trends, stakeholder expectations and portfolio implications.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Market Access, Medical, Legal, Finance, Supply Chain and Corporate Affairs teams to coordinate policy initiatives.
• Lead cross‑functional projects focused on intellectual‑property protection, compulsory‑licensing risk, pricing and localization policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in government affairs, public policy or regulatory affairs within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
• Proven track record of influencing senior government officials and industry bodies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate policy developments into business impact.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Fluency in Russian and English.
